S. Murray
Rust, Founder
Murray Rust, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, is one of the original founders
of Montgomery & Rust, Inc. As an active member and former officer
of local, state and national builders associations, Murray keeps the company
in touch with the building industry, and has established himself as an
industry leader over the last thirty-four years.
Murray holds degrees in Applied Science and Mechanical Engineering from
Lehigh University. He also participated in Continuing Education for Construction
Engineers for two years at Cornell University.
Prior to co-founding HMR, Inc. (now Montgomery & Rust, Inc.) Murray
worked with Rust Engineering and its Belgian Affiliates, Coppee-Rust for
10 years. There he served as estimator, chief scheduler, foreign office
sales and contract officer, assistant superintendent, regional construction
manager, and project manager. Project experience included waste water
treatment plants, a steel mill complex, two chemical plants, and several
pulp and paper mills. He had responsibility for complete project management
of multi-million dollar construction project. Murray is experienced in
all phases of construction including material, labor, cost accounting,
scheduling and safety.

Donald Montgomery, Founder and Architect
Don Montgomery is a registered Architect with a solid background in construction
and design. Donald is originally from New England where he received his
construction and architectural training He holds an Associates Degree
in Building Construction Technology, an Architectural Engineering Associates
Degree, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Boston Architectural
College. Don's architectural training was sandwiched around service in
the U.S. Army where he was a Commissioned Officer in the Special Forces.
Donald worked with various Architectural firms, including Royal Barry
Wills Associates, both before and after his service in the Army. His responsibilities
included complete job drawings, details, client correspondence and job
supervision.
After several productive years designing, renovating and building in
New England, Don partnered with Murray Rust to form what was to become
Montgomery & Rust, Inc.
Don is a Registered Architect licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and
is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Architects (AIA.)
Donald built and now owns and operates, with a partner, The Hartwood Restaurant
and its adjunct, Whispers Pub. He also owns and operates an architectural
artifacts retail shop called The Building Arts.
Greg Green, Principal
Greg joined the Company in 1999 and is one of the firm’s Principals.
Greg primarily focuses on operations and estimating. Greg was the Project
Manager for the 1600 Murray Avenue Condominium Building in Squirrel Hill,
and for The Brakehouse Lofts Building in the Strip District.
Besides his other responsibilities, Greg ensures the proper flow of information
between the Main Office and the Field Offices, coordinates Change Orders
and coordinates and organizes our projects with an online management program,
called BuildLinks.
Greg is originally from Astabula, Ohio. He graduated from Bowling Green
University with a Bachelors of Arts in Environmental Policy with a minor
in Geology.
R. Mark Rust, Principal
Mark joined the firm in 2006 and is one of the firm’s Principals.
His primary areas of responsibility include financial and business development
functions. Prior to joining the Company, he spent over 16 years in the
Corporate Finance Department at Ferris, Baker Watts, a regional investment
banking firm. His professional experience covers merger and acquisition
transactions, raising capital for public and private companies, and financial
advisory transactions including evaluating strategic alternatives and
the issuance of fairness opinions.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Rochester
and a Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in
Finance, Organizations and Markets, and Business Environment and Public
Policy from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration
at the University of Rochester. He is also a member of the Board of Pittsburgh
Habitat for Humanity.
Robert Smith, Vice President, Construction
Bob is our Senior Project Superintendent and Vice President of Construction.
He started his career as a draftsman for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. He
worked there for a year before moving back to Pittsburgh to work as a
Superintendent and draftsman for Washington Homes and Perry Homes. This
led him to Montgomery & Rust, Inc. where he has supervised all aspects
of construction at The Village of Bradford Woods, The Village of Shadyside,
The Trillium of Fox Chapel, and The Village of Washington's Landing among
others.
He is currently in charge of our housing construction at Summerset at
Frick Park and has been with Montgomery & Rust, Inc. since 1977.
Peter Sewchok, Vice President, Design and Technology
Peter is one of our in-house Architectural Designers and is Vice President
of Design and Technology. As such, he oversees the IT and Web functions
of the company. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from
St. Vincent College and a Master of Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon
University.
Besides his work as a designer, Peter has also functioned as a Job Superintendent
on the construction of various single family homes and developments such
as Perry Point, The Village of Bradford Woods, the Ingomar Professional
Building, Castle Town Square North and South, and worked as Montgomery
& Rust's Estimator on various projects including The Trillium, The
Links at Treesdale, and The Village at Washington's Landing.
